MOCK UPS- FRONT COVER.
The masthead is the final layer, as the magazine is not well established enough for the image to be placed on top.
There are minimal sell lines, as this is common on music magazines. For the artist to be the main focus.

CHOSEN FONTS
This font is
being used to announce an artist’s name as it stands out, but not in an odd
way. (big fat marker)
This font shall be used to
type part of the content out, as i feel it looks good with the other fonts.
(nerko)
This
is another font which shall be used to write some content as it subtly ties the
whole content together. (Berlin Sans FB)
And finally this font
shall be used to write the authors name bellow the article they had created. So
that it will stand out and be clear to the readership. (Orator Std)

MY ARTIST
The artist who will appear within all three of my texts
will be a female Hip Hop/RnB artist.
Her name is Karisma, and she is 19 years old. The word
‘charismatic’ means that you exercise a charm that inspires devotion in others.
This is exactly what Karisma wants, through her music she wishes to help other
people. She wants others to feel good when understanding her music. The effect
that Karisma will have on music is that she is a young artist and will be able
to give her youthful opinions on the music ‘game’ itself. Her age is vital as she has experienced the
‘old school’ music industry in addition to the current one. She has been
inspired by many artists such as missy Elliot, Mary J Blige and Keyshia Cole.
Male artists have also influenced her decision to be part of the music scene;
however she wishes to show that women are not just good for being sexual
objects which is the main representation for females in these genres. She keeps
her look simple to reflect her mood, in addition to her music. Why my artist
has chosen this music genre is simply because it appeals to her the most, if
she has passion for the music itself then it will help motivate her to make the
best music possible.

FEATURED ARTISTS
FEATURED ARTISTS
The Weeknd will also be featured within BEATS.
He is an underground artist at the moment, but is becoming mainstream with the
help of Drake who made the public aware of him through their single ‘The Zone’.
The Weeknd is from the same hometown as drake; however they are very different,
Weeknd had a drug addiction problem and found his way through the help of
music. The Weeknd will bring hope to the audience, if they are suffering with
any problems they know that they are not alone and are able to see that there
is a way out of it. The Weeknd’s music is extremely current as he is displayed
as an RnB artist. He will bring out the female audience to an even wider
variety as his music is sweet and seductive. The Weeknd is iconic by his hair. The
Weeknd is a new and current artist of whom the audience can relate to, his
music relates to situations which the readership may be in. Allowing them to
feel a much more personal connection with the artist himself. Creating more
effective music, and a great feature for BEATS.
FEATURED ARTISTS
Drake will be featured within BEATS
magazine. He is a great addition to this
issue of the magazine as he represents how Hip Hop has changed throughout the
years. Drake shows that it is much more socially expectable to show your
emotions through your music. However he still upholds the image of a typical
Hip Hop artist by wearing chains, rapping about women and having tattoos.
However his views on these are extremely varied as he is not worried about
showing emotions towards a particular female through a song. Drake is also
extremely personal in interviews and is not afraid to open up unlike other
rappers, which is what will be shown in the BEATS magazine. There will be an
interview from Drake where he is completely honest as usual and talks about new
musical collaborations. Drake has achieved a lot throughout his career as he
has now got a diploma after deciding that he doesn’t want to just be known for
rapping and dropping out of school. This will also encourage the younger
audience to stay in school. Showing him to be a positive role model. The
audience of BEATS will appreciate his feature within the magazine as they know
how much of an effect he as with his music. Drake will also appeal to the
female audience as his true full music appeals to them, the artist states ‘ I
don’t make music for bitches, I make music for women.’
